Restricted palette

This activity teaches restricted palette and flat colour application. The discipline is in the choice. Students decide which three or four colours will carry the whole picture, then commit. The non-representational instruction (skin doesn't have to be skin-coloured) is the curriculum content. Colour can be chosen for feeling, not accuracy. Some students will want to blend. Hold them to flat fills. The hard edges and limited palette are what make the work look bold rather than muddy. The title naming the colour is the student claiming the choice.
