Think of us as a secret network of teachers.
Operating for ten years, and made up largely of teachers that have used our kits in their classroom before, most members first discover School Kit when they register to teach one of our free resource boxes.
We call our teacher network The School Kit Squad and together we share a common goal of seeking innovative, unconventional and challenging teaching experiences for our students.
Squad members are curious beings, hugely passionate about the business of teaching, we are fascinated by how our students learn, we strive to be better teachers, we seek a space to share our experiences and successes.
We’re mindful of the role our teaching plays in shaping how the next generation will respond to the challenges they face.
We also make beautiful resources, made up of both physical and digital items, for NZ classrooms. Our kits result in powerful teaching and learning experiences for both teachers and their students.
It’s not actually a secret network of course - we just don’t shout about it, we don’t seek the limelight, we just get on with it. Here, we’re having professional conversations and creating community, sharing teaching ideas and challenging ourselves to do things differently.

How are you funded?
Our kits are always free for you to take because we partner with a range of amazing organisations (public and private) and channel their education budgets in effective and interesting ways. The final product is our kits for your classrooms.
Why can’t I download resources from your website anymore?
We have transitioned our resources to our new teacher network app. We refer to this as our Squad HQ and it is a fun space where our resources are available as well as kit teaching support and like minded teachers sharing ideas with one another. Become a Squad Member here.
How many students will my kit teach?
All our kits are designed for a class of 32. We know if you are teaching in a MLE space this is not enough so we suggest each Teacher within your space register for the same kit.
How long do the kits take to teach?
This is entirely up to you and the type of kit you have decided to teach. Each kit has a comprehensive digital teacher guide that gives you a thorough overview of the ideas and learning in each kit. You can explore this as deeply as you choose with your students, this may depend on things such as their ability and the topic. A good guide is to discuss with other teachers that have or are teaching the same kit within our network. Sharing knowledge is key.
How much does a kit cost?
Our kits are always free. Complete your registration, join our teacher network and you’re on your way.
Why do we ask for feedback and why is it important?
Our kits are free to take but not free to make. We supply our generous kit sponsors with feedback from you as ‘payment’. Our sponsors want to know what you and your students thought of the learning experience, and so do we.
When will I need to give my feedback?
We will send out an email request for feedback at the end of the Term you received your kit. If you haven’t quite finished with your kit, you can let us know then.
How long does my kit registration take to process?
Our HQ team works really hard to ensure registrations are processed promptly. Please keep an eye on your inbox as you can expect a confirmation email within a week.
What if I teach more than one Yr9 or 10 class?
Some of our kits are specifically designed for Yr9 and 10 classes. This means you may need more than one kit if you teach more than one class. The registration forms for these kits include a space to let us know how many kits you need.
What kits do you have next term?
You can find a complete schedule of our upcoming kits in the Calendar section of our website. We keep this updated as often as possible and aim to have it available in advance to help with your planning. You can find the calendar here.
What term do I teach my kit in and when will I get my kit?
Once you have decided what term you would like to teach our kit in then you can register online here. We will confirm your registration and your kit will arrive the first week of your chosen term ready for you to teach.
What do I do if I want to cancel a kit or change terms?
Drop us a line at hello@schoolkit.co.nz and let us know if you no longer need a resource or if you would like to change your teaching to another term. Alternatively, if you’re already in the School Kit Squad, message one of your hosts directly and we will be more than happy to get that sorted for you.
I’ve downloaded the School Kit app but it’s not working?
This could be for a number of reasons that are normally a simple fix. We can help you troubleshoot to solve this and it is best to email us at hello@schoolkit.co.nz
