Mark September 19th in your plan book – it is International Talk Like A Pirate Day (duh – obviously) and it sounds like so much fun!
If you are in (or are able to visit) Auckland then The Voyager New Zealand Maritime Museum extends the holiday to Sunday, Sept. 23, with special pirate sailings aboard the heritage vessel Ted Ashby at 10.30am, 12.00noon & 2.00pm. Children can create story telling, sword fighting lessons, create a Pirate Ship and of course the Pirate Hat.
We’ve come up with a list of cool children’s books about Pirates (so you can totally immerse yourself in all things Piratey)
How I Became a Pirate: Melinda Long
Do Pirate’s take Baths?: Nadine Bernard Westcott
Treasure Island: Robert Louis Stevenson
The Pirate Meets the Queen: Matt Faulkner
Peter Pan: J M Barrie
